Time to give something back to this beautiful country and its warm, friendly people.

As a group, we can highlight the importance of keeping the environment clean, not only because it dramatically improves the quality of life, but also because it's simply good business. Once Albania is finally able to attract tourists, we want them to have such a nice experience that they will tell their friends and return the following year.

They are less likely to do that if they see garbage everywhere, especially on the beach. Vain is a national treasure - a protected wetlands on one side and a clean sandy beach with clean water on the other.

We will select a section of the Vain beach and simply pick up all the trash - hopefully with lots of media coverage. This will send a message to political candidates - CLEAN UP ALBANIA!

We will supply disposable gloves and garbage bags, and of course, beer!

Named hashers please plan to participate in a naming ceremony.

Note: There will not be a running hash, so no need to bring running or hiking shoes, just beach stuff.

DIRECTIONS: Head north out of Tirana past Fushe Kruje toward Lezhe. The Kamez turnoff (right at Casa Italia) may be faster due to construction on the Durres-Tirana highway, and heavy traffic Saturday morning. Just before entering Lezhe, take the exit to Ishull Lezhe (before the Drin River - DO NOT cross the Drin!), turn left and pass under the highway. Continue down the paved road until youu see a sign for "Blue Tavern" or something like that. You will now be on a gravel road, while the paved road turns to the left. Follow the road through the marshland until you get to a toll gate (100 leke per person) and then continue toward the sea and breakwater. Park near the breakwater.
