Reminders

  • We leave at 11:30 AM from Archea Bar aka France98 (behind pizza Kolonat). Participation costs 200LEK. In exchange, beer, snacks, and water will be provided
  • Use sunscreen & drink lots of water.
  • Make newbies familiar with hash procedures and trail markings. Have them read our notes on common sense hashing and stay with them so they don't get lost!
  • Use your common sense to judge whether the people appearing on your pictures would object to having them published on the Internet.

Where: The TOP of Mt. Kruje. We've all been to Kruje, but this is your chance to experience something special!

Description: On the summit of Mt. Kruje, directly above the town, there is a Bektashi shrine and pilgrimage site. The trail to the summit is steep but not difficult. The owner of the Panorama restaurant says he can hike from the Panorama to the top in 30 minutes! My best time so far has been 40 minutes. It's a beautiful hike with fantastic views in all directions. On a clear day you can see Vlore.

NOTE: The shrine is a Bektashi holy place, so if you visit, please treat it with the utmost respect. The shrine itself is inside a cave just to the left of the building at the summit.

Although the trail to the top is not difficult (I've seen kids on it), if you want a REALLY easy walk, you will follow the gravel road around the north side. It eventually gets to the summit, but you will not have time to go there. The views are just as nice, especially of the valley to the north and northeast of Mt. Kruje.

After the hash we will have lunch in the Panorama restaurant.
