HARES: Gladiator!

WHERE: The Brrari river - lots of pools, waterfalls, and a spectacular canyon!

DIRECTIONS: (we've done several hashes in this area) Take the Dibar road toward the old cemetery northeast of Tirana. Pass the cemetery on the left and continue toward the canyon to the left (north) of Mt. Dajti. Pass the old tank factory, cross the Brrari and continue up the gravel road through the canyon. As you come out of the canyon on the other side, you will see an old military bunker on the left. Park there.

TRAIL CONDITIONS: Not a trail at all! We will hike about one mile downstream, descent to the river, and then splash, swim, crawl along the river back to the cars. There are some great pools, caves, waterfalls, and finally, a canyon with sheer walls where you can't touch the bottom - not for the claustrophobic! If you are at all afraid of the water, you should bring a flotation device. Also, bring suitable shoes - you will be in the water, climbing on rocks.

NOTE: some of the pools and waterfalls may be dangerous for young children - please watch them closely!

Also, anything you bring with you will probably get wet, so make sure you have waterproof containers for cameras, cookies, etc.
